“Bottom line: there is a f**k ton going on in video right now, and it’s the #1 way to capture the attention of the audience you’re going after for your small business, brand, or company.”

Gary said this 3 years ago and to this day, this still holds an immense amount of straight up truth.

Making social videos is a job in itself. Time, knowledge of software, or man-power are just a few of the excuses content creators, entrepreneurs, and brands make when on the topic of consistently releasing videos on social media.

“I don’t know how to use Adobe Premiere or Final Cut”

“Adding subtitles to my video takes sooo long and I can’t pay someone to do it right now”

“I wish I could have a pro like DRock editing my videos for me”

Blah blah blah…

At multiple points in time, I’ve either said or heard these excuses. So, back in 2017 my friend, Hassan Ahmed, came to me and proposed we do something about it. And we did.

I introduce to you, Veme.ly.

Key features for Veme.ly — add subtitles, progress bars, and more.

A mobile app on the App Store that we’ve been improving for the last 12 months. We found an opening that wasn’t being filled properly in the market and have chosen develop an app to boldly take advantage of the opportunity. We want our mobile application, for lack of a better term, to be the “Canva” for video. Offering video design tools and creative templates to simulate the market once more with dynamic content.

You can learn more about our app fully on our website.

So, let me now answer the question that you all clicked on this article for.

Here, I’m gonna give a step-by-step of how you can make a “Gary-esque” social media video, like you see on his Instagram.

So let’s use this as an example that features text on video, subtitles, progress bar, background colors, emojis/stickers, and even a logo watermark.

Let’s start from the beginning:

(You’ll of course have to download the app to follow along. *wink, wink*)

Step 1: Select, Record, or Upload your video.

Select from your library, record on the app, or upload from the “cloud”, Pixabay, or Giphy. (Video clip from @alicelk aka Alice Kristiansen)

Step 2: Clip and/or Resize your video.

Drag the ends to desired times. Or click on social icons for the preset “max” time allowed.
Tap on “Resize Video” to custom crop or select a preset aspect ratio.

Step 3: Select your desired Template Ratio.

Swipe vertically and horizontally to view all options.

Step 4: Let’s edit the first Text Box

Change the size and color with the editing tool (green box icon).
Tap on text box to add your copy

Step 5: Now for Text Box #2

Tap “Text” to add a new Text Box. Drag anywhere to desired location.
Click on the “pencil” icon to edit the style of the text.

Step 6: Who doesn’t love stickers?

Tap on “stickers” to add emojis, icons, logos, shapes, and more. Drag them anywhere.

Step 7: Subtitles done right… Finally.

Add a new text box and then tap on the [cc] icon to activate “Subtitle Mode”
You have the ability to add subtitles manually or you can generate them automatically.
Like all other text, you can customize its style by clicking the pencil icon.

Step 8: Progress Bar

Tap on “Progress” to edit the color of your Progress Bar.

Step 9: Logo Watermark

Tap on “Watermark” to add your own logo or name. Customize it as well.

Done.
